Over the years I have become hyper focused on the importance of sleep quality to my overall health and wellbeing. Sleep is a part of a holistic lifestyle I try to live, along with eating well, staying active, and having a positive state of mind. I am constantly trying to balance this lifestyle, while being the default parent for our children and previously running an interior design/real estate/furnishing business for the last 7 years, which is not always easy to do! I am passionate about making a house into a home and my customers and mentors tell me I have a natural ability for it. I do not believe it is a coincidence that I have developed a home product invention that helps women sleep better.
Our sleep health journey intensified in 2015, when my husband started a sourcing and engineering role at the office and R&D center of Tempur Sealy, the largest mattress manufacture in the world. We soon were blessed enough to sleep on our first luxury mattress, a Stearns and Foster Hybrid, which was an upgrade from our previous $300 mattress. We began to focus more on the feel, aesthetics, and ultimately rest we were able to obtain, so we also upgraded our pillows and bed sheets. We viewed the three components as part of a sleep system.
We were reading more about the impact of exercise, food and diet, alcohol, sleep aids, and more on sleep. We also read Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, PhD to better understand sleep patterns and cycles. We were trying to make incremental improvements and short-term investments in our sleep, diet, movement, and mind to ultimately impact our health today and in the future. My mother-in-law always said, “Without your body, you have nothing”.
Then one morning I made a casual comment to my husband about the lack of support for my breasts while sleeping and discomfort it was causing. We both stopped, turned, and caught each other’s gaze. The idea for the Boop Pillow was born! I texted my friends who I found out were having similar issues, so I made a prototype to distribute to a select few of them. We had it tested and validated initially by each of those women from ages 35 to 65 years old. They all said some variation of “this solves a problem that I never thought I’d be able to find a solution for,” and were all thrilled they found comfort for a sleep position they were naturally trying to shift to, but could not due to the lack of support. We tested different designs, different feels, and different aesthetics until we landed on what we feel is the optimal balance. We hope you can now enjoy the Boop Pillow!
